How you will spend your day as an Estimator:

The ISR/Estimator role is primarily responsible for managing estimates and quotes for transaction sales within specified regions. This position requires excellent communication skills that result in meeting or exceeding the assigned revenue targets for the specified regions. You will need to interact with and support the Outside Sales Team in preparing accurate estimates and quotes for building materials to an Outside sales team assigned.

The Inside Sales team is aligned to Arrow’s sales regions and is an overall support system for Arrow’s outside sales team. The ISR/Estimator is responsible for all duties from prospecting to closing accounts with the field sales team for the regions they support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research accounts, identify key players, generate interest and obtain business requirements. Work closely with Outside Sales Representatives to determine strategic approach.
  • Perform data entry pre-sales support transactions for field sales:
  • Issue purchase orders.
  • Prepare accurate estimates
  • Special Price Authorization requests.
  • Account administration including the update forecast and opportunity details to ensure accurate territory forecasts.
  • Utilize manufacturer’s or builder’s software programs, as required. Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Arrow products and services, industry trends, and competition.
  • Be a key member and contributor to the Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints

Estimator Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Inside Sales in LBM or similar industry with a proven track record within an automated sales environment where accurate data entry and management of a CRM system was required.
  • Experience and success working within a revenue quota and commission structure.
  • General knowledge of millwork, lumber and building materials; expanded knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with heavy data entry


Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient with standard corporate productivity tools (email, voicemail, MS Office).
  • Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills as well as Strong writing skills.
  • Persistent, self-starter with a track record of successful, credible follow-up and cold calling in to multiple levels within an organization.
  • Team player with the ability to work in a high-energy sales team environment with a desire to work with others for broader success.
